I am pleased to welcome you all to an inspired musical event on Wednesday, July 30th at 8 p.m. Some of you may know Naoki Toyomura, who after a summer of teaching and touring in Zimbabwe, will be performing at the Kids on Keys studio at 125 Elm Street in Westfield. Naoki has just completed his first year at the number one ranked music school in USA, Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he studies piano performance with Professor Natalya Antonova after receiving the Howard Hanson Scholarship. He has performed in New York, New Jersey, Michigan, and will also be performing in Alaska later this year. This summer he participated in the Music Inspires Africa program, in which he taught and held concerts in various locations in Zimbabwe. Naoki is from Auckland, New Zealand, and was one of the first Kids on Keys student starting his musical education at age five.
The concert program will include Mozart, Albeniz, and Chopin. This is a wonderful opportunity to see a truly virtuoso classical concert performance, following in the tradition of Glenn Gould and many others. I am excited to see what will come next for this young, up and coming concert pianist. Don’t miss out on an evening of beautiful music and culture.
